John Baggott

Composer, Keyboardist and Producer

John Baggott is an influential, Bristol-based keyboard master, composer, and producer who has spent decades shaping the landscape of contemporary British electronic, trip-hop, and rock music. Widely recognized as a foundational pillar of the globally celebrated “Bristol Sound,” John’s atmospheric keyboard textures and innovative production style have earned him international acclaim.

As a premier studio and live collaborator, John is best known for his long-term work with two of the most significant musical acts of the modern era: Massive Attack and Portishead. His brilliant musicianship caught the ear of rock royalty, leading to a prolific, multi-year partnership with Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, with whom he co-wrote and recorded several Grammy-nominated albums as a member of The Strange Sensation and The Sensational Space Shifters.

In addition to playing on some of the world’s biggest festival stages - from Glastonbury to Coachella - John is an incredibly versatile composer. He frequently lends his talents to independent contemporary classical recordings, ambient composition, and pioneering musical accessibility tech initiatives. Deeply rooted in the local South West scene, he continues to drive the region’s musical community forward through local jazz residencies, live session collaborations, and cross-genre mentorship.
